Work is something that many people take for granted. Backed by credentials, experience, and many of the other elements that factor in employment, they tend to forget what a blessing having work is. Many times, all you hear from them are complaints about their job. For those at a disadvantage when it comes to being hired – for their youth, lack of experience, bad record, etc. – gaining employment gives them dignity, security, and, above all, hope. But even more than that, having work provides them a feeling of self-worth; to know that they have some sort of contribution to society that is positive and this boosts their self-esteem. For others, work is simply the ticket for a brighter future.
